S2000 Bottom End Build

The engine pictured here came from a very neglected S2000 which suffered from a rod knock. The F20C can be very sensitive to low oil levels, especially when operated on-track or in extensive cornering. Low oil levels resulted in a spun rod bearing, with significant damage to the crankshaft, rod, piston, and cylinder wall. The block was bored & honed to fit new OEM oversized pistons. A good condition used rod and crank were sourced to help keep costs low. The engine was cleaned and reassembled, with all other clearances checked. New OEM bearings were used, as well as “updated” AP2 valve retainers and updated 2002 + oil jet bolts used. Another S2000 with a damaged F20C motor was put back on the road.
